The 2024 MotoGP year was a great year for the sport as more people than ever tuned in and 2025 is shaping up to be a mindbender. Make sure your air bag is fully charged as we start what will be an epic year and to date my top three things to watch for have two items that are not on track items #1 being the acquisition of MotoGP by Liberty the owner of Formula One and #2 being the restructuring of KTM.

September 28, 2025 in Japan

August 24, 2025 Hungary

MotoGP was in Hungary this weekend and there were three different brands on the Podium and Moto2 was a scorcher.

July 20, 2025

In 1970 at the Czechoslovakian GP my best friend Frankie Juhan was on the grid waiting for the start when he was wiped out by Grassetti before the race even started. Frankie a Canadian, is the son of the famous Czech motorcycle champion Franta Juhan and the nephew of Porsche legend Jaroslav Juhan. It was a dream for Frankie to race at what could me considered the family’s home track and for it to robbed from him by the actions of an idiot still hurts 55 years later.

Marc Marquez won the 2025 Tissot Grand Prix of Czechia and leads the championship by a country mile as MotoGP heads of for a Summer break. Ducati’s dominance was challenged by Marco Bezzecchi, Aprilia and Acosta on his KTM who finished 2nd. and third. The Aprilia satellite team Trackhouse Racing with  Raul Fernandez finished 5th.

Trackhouse are better known on this side of the pond in NASCAR but are now doing well on two wheels.

July 13, 2025 The German Gran Prix.

The spectacle that is MotoGP is being endangered by its very nature. The bikes are so ridiculously fast that when track conditions change they can become unstable missiles. The best racers in the world pilot these incredible beasts and even their skill is not enough . The race at the Dutch TT in June was bad but what just happened in Germany was a disaster. The rule changes coming in 2027 will make things safer for everyone and we hope no-one gets seriously hurt before then. The best rider on the planet won when Marc Marquez crossed the finish line with his brother Alex in second.

June 27, 2025 Dutch TT Assen 100 Years of GP History and a New Era for MotoGP

Practice saw crashes dominate including two from Marc Marquez others included Ai Ogura, Alex Marquez, Johann Zarco, Fermin Aldeguer, Franco Morbidelli, Enea Bastianini and Aleix Espargaro and Lorenzo Savadori the test rider for Aprilia added to the carnage,

The reason for all these crashes is the ultra competitive nature of MotoGP where if you are not in the Top Ten by the end of the day you have to qualify for the your grid position in a separate qualifying heat from which only the top 2 advance into who will be on the first rows of the grid for the race. When you are talking about the top sixteen positions being less than a second apart every one one thousand of a second counts. Add to that cooler temperatures lessening the grip on the tires and you get crashes, Thankfully there were no race ending injuries.\

The race on Sunday was won by Marc Marquez on a Ducati but his brother Alex who is second in he championship crashed and damaged his hand. As thrilling as the race was in front of 100,000 fans it took second place behind the off track blockbusters that will reverberate through our sport for decades.

When the season started I said that there were two topics that were not on-track items that I would be watching closely. The acquisition of MotoGP by F1 owner Liberty has been approved and restructuring of KTM has been completed with its purchase by the Indian giant Bajaj Auto.

.

The race in Assen this weekend celebrates 100 Years of TT racing in the Netherlands. My best friends dad Czech legend Franta Juhan raced there in 1947.

June 8, 2025 Spain at Aragon

It was a family affair as the Marquez brothers were 1st. and second,

May 26, 2025 Silverstone , England

Not to be outdone by the French the British Gan Prix had its own brand of insanity including both Alex and Marc Marquez crashing in the first lap only to being able to start the race when it was red flagged a lap later in an unrelated instance causing a restart.

The race was dominated not on the track but by the 2024 World Champion stating he wanted out of his contract with Aprilia. On top of that Bezzecchi on Aprilia won when Yamaha’s Quartararo had his bike fail on him while leading by 5 seconds giving , Zarco brought home his Honda in second and marc Marquez finished 3rd, for Ducati extending his World Championship lead.

May 11, 2025 One of my favorite races of the season is in France at Le Mans where the French bring an huge passion to the track. The track conditions were treacherous and there was bedlam at the start where most of the riders were on slick tires and had to come in to switch bikes for rain tires which meant they incurred 2 long lap penalties. The conditions meant that the smallest error put you on the pavement which was what happened to Alex Marquez and Peco Bagnaia who are second and third in the championship. The unlikely winner through all the mayhem was Zarco and his win in France was Honda’s first premier class win for two years.

April 27 , Grand Prix of Spain

There was not a seat in the house as MotoGP CIRCUITO DE JEREZ-ÁNGEL NIETO in Spain and Spanish hero Marc Marquez who has had an amazing start to the 2025 season on the factory Ducati. Watching live on MotoGP.com you could hear the gasps from the crowd when he crashed. He remounted and managed to bring his batted Ducati home in 12th. The Spanish fans still went home happy thanks to Alex Marquez winning his first MotoGP race. Alex was in tears after the race when his brother made it through the throngs to the victory circle to hug him. The last time I remember that happening was when Alex was the Moto3 and Moto2 Champion.

The man of the race voted by MotoGP fans was on a Yamaha and a well deserved 2nd. place. It was a superb performance for the Japanese brand who along with Honda have been playing catchup the European models Ducati, Parrilla and KTM.

Rossi #49 was at in the house at Jerez and visited Trackhouse Racing. Davide Brivio who was his Team Manager at Yamaha for four of his World Championships,

April 13, 2025 Qatar

Dominant would be a word that described Marc Marquez in Qatar. Winning the Pole position. Sprint Winner on Saturday and Race Winner on Sunday. The big winner on Sunday however was KTM finishing second splitting the Ducati on the podium. Marc did not make it easy as his brother Alex who had finished second in event running into him at the start of the race and damaging his bike.

It was unfortunate that they were assigned a penalty after the race for technical violation (Tire Pressure) dropping Maverick Viñales from 2nd to 14th.

March 30th, 2025 America

It all started well for Marc Marquez in Texas, To say it was a weird race is putting it lightly. Before the race even started Marc caused a stampede when he sprinted from the grid where he was on wet tires to get his dry setup bike that was in the pits that melee caused a restart. Trackhouse rookie Ai Ogura came from 18th to 9th and score a valuable MotoGP point.

March 16, 2025 Argentina

Alex and Marc Marqez were the story in Argentina when you are First and Second in both the Sprint on Saturday and in the race on Sunday how could it be any other way. For me the showing that Zarco delivered for Honda was inspiring and the Trackhouse Racings’ young star Ai Ogura coming from 15th on the grid to 8th.must have made Justin Marcs from Trackhouse smile. He would not be happy when that effort was lost when Ai was disqualified because the team used software patch when rebuilding his bike after a crash that was not homologated by the Championship .

March 2, 2025

The first race of the season is over with Ducati continuing it’s 2024 dominance by taking the first four places. If a fairy tale weekend the Marquez brothers Alex and Marc went one two in the Saturday Sprint race and repeated it in Sundays ‘ Gran Prix. The closest non Ducati was Japanese rookie Ai Ogura on the Trackhouse Racing Aprilia, A stunning performance for the rising star.

February 2, 2025. The team presentations and the shakedown tests are over and the grid heads to hits the track in Malaysia at Sepang International Circuit, featuring the full field of 2025 MotoGP riders for the Sepang Test: February 5 – 7
