In the 1978 February edition of Cycle Canada the legendary Honda Engineer Scouichirou Irimajiri, the project leader for both projects said, “The CBX engine is almost identical to the racing unit. The principal difference is that the angle between the valves is more narrow in the CBX since it turns at 10,000rpm where as the 250 turned at 18,000”
When asked how much power could be obtained from the CBX engine, Sensei Scouichirou said, “120 hp is available with the changes to the camshafts, exhaust system and carburetors. Some cylinder head work would bring it up to 130 hp”
