Cycle world reported “in its Briefing on Honda Electric Motorcycle Business document, the company confirmed that it intends to use solid-state batteries in the mid to long term in electric motorcycles, as well as reducing the cost of electric bikes by 50 percent by 2030. Together, those two changes could be enough to tip the scales in favor of electric motorcycles, even in the higher-performance end of the market, so rather than being forced to give up their combustion engines by taxes or legislation, buyers will choose to get the electric bikes for the benefits they offer.”

Honda is going electric. TOCHIGI, Nov 21 (Reuters) – Honda Motor (7267.T), Honda aims to double the driving range of its electric cars by the late 2020s when they start to adopt all-solid-state batteries, a new type of power source under development, the head of its research unit said on Wednesday. All-solid-state batteries, replacing liquid-state lithium-ion batteries, will produce twice the driving range by the end of this decade and over 2.5 times more by the 2040s, said Keiji Otsu, president of Honda R&D.

The United States through it trade War and positions on climate championed by Donald Trump change has drastically changed the expectations for the market for EV products and until North America gets it act together on climate change it will slow the adoption of EV tech

  1. Fir me, the benefit if greater capacity batteries isn’t necessarily longer range, its having a lower weight for what ever range you need. What would be awesome is a compact main battery for every day riding and ability to “plug in” an extra battery pack or two when you need more range such as long offroad routes or touring. Looking forward to what they bring out.
