This motorcycle fills a gap in Honda’s true Adventure motorcycles, They can now say we have small in the CRF300 Rally, medium in the Transalp and large in the Africa Twin CRF1100 . There are strong competitors in each of the segments from Europe and Japan and I know Honda dealers like the Honda Centre in Canada are thrilled to be able to compete head to head in that mid range.

The first Transalp was built in 1985 as an off-road motorbike with a 500 cc (31 cu in) engine. Further development introduced an increase to 600 cc (37 cu in) and more road-oriented features, notably an improved fairing. This new bike is a giant leap forward.

Following is a table courtesy of our Australian friends that show the differences between the three Adventure motorcycles from Honda.

Honda does list the CB500X and the NC750X as Adventure models but both bikes are more street worthy than Adventure ready as they are shipped. (light gravel vs. dirt)
