The book Grace and Grit is as much a history lesson as it is a celebration of Victorian Women showing how with courage and the will to excel you can overcome the most grueling conditions and prejudice. This is one of my series of book revues and is intended to spur interest in the topics they cover.

This book William M. Murphy is as much a history lesson of the period as it is about the three main women motorcycle adventurers. It paint a picture before America had highway and that to get coast to coast you traveled on rural roads that in essence followed the dirt trails of the original settlers who headed west seeking a new future. when it rained the roads or tracks turned into deep stick mud and you could barely walk through it. You can only marvel that these enterprising dreamers had the guts and determination to slog through that stuff on a motorcycle, never mind a motorcycle with a side car.

And as a nod to a current a world traveler currently in India there is Noraly from Itchy Boots who never ceases to amaze me.

In 2023 the spirit of these adventurers is still alive. Noraly fro Itchy boots is one to watch
